FORTISCHEM A. S. STOPPED MERCURY ELECTROLYSIS PRODUCTION PROCESS

On Sunday, 10th of December 2017, chemical company in Nováky ended the production of chemical products through old mercury electrolysis. This was  realised in accordance with  law and measures imposed. The stoppage of mercury electrolysis by itself was carried out under the supervision of an independent expert and with the participation of a notary. The Notice of Production Termination was submitted to the Slovak Environmental Inspectorate on 11th of December 2017 together with the proposal for the inspection. FORTISCHEM a. s. by this has complied with The Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council 2017/852 on mercury, which prohibits the use of mercury in the production of chlorine and hydroxides by electrolysis of the salt brine.
